C2C Crochet Baby Blanket in Purple

C2C crochet baby blanket

I am very happy to report about a project that I recently completed. It's a C2C crochet baby blanket that I started somewhere around November. My sister-in-law was pregnant with my soon-to-be new niece, so I was very keen on making something for her.

At around that time, I came across the C2C crochet blankets on Pinterest, and I just had to give it a shot. And so I went to buy plenty of yarn and began to master the C2C technique. It is not a difficult technique once you get started. I used an excellent YouTube video that you can find here (by Crochet Lovers) that really got me started on the right foot. This blanket is growing quite rapidly, so it is fulfilling and fun to work on.

I tried to keep my design quite simple because it was my first C2C blanket, but also because I wanted to keep it calm because it's for a baby. I also didn't want it to be too pink, so I ended up with three different shades of purple. I bought 100g skeins of acrylic wool, and it took about 1.5 skeins of the lavender, 2 skeins of the dark purple and almost 4 skeins of the lighter purple to make the blanket.

I also wanted to do a rectangle blanket rather than a square one. I think it will better serve the baby and for a longer time.

I finished the blanket with a scalloped border using Storer Bought Creation's tutorial, which was very easy to use.

The hardest part was weaving in the ends. Not because of its difficulty, but because of the amount of ends and the annoying kind of work, but I did it on the bus on my way to and from work, and sometimes even in the car when waiting in traffic. I was very dedicated to the mission :)

The blanket is around 100 cm wide and nearly 130 cm long, so it's big enough also to use as a crib blanket.

My new niece is now a month old, and I can't wait to give her the new blanket. I even made a little pink hat for her...

Isn't the hat cute???

Here are some other pictures for your pleasure...

It looks so pretty even when it's folded

I really enjoyed making the blanket and I urge each of you to try and make one. It's not hard and it's a lot of fun. If you wish to order such a blanket, in any color or design, feel free to contact me.

Thanks for stopping by :)
